That sheââ¬â¢d execute our mom too for not ensuring them, for letting him beat her. He generally concurred. He thought they were simply words that helped her discharge the torment inside herself. Until he saw it. He was strolling home from football training late around evening time, it was cold and there was a substantial haze. His companions had all returned home before him and he was separated from everyone else. He strolled as quick as could be expected under the circumstances; these lanes were perilous after 8pm. It was overcast and the moon was not really obvious. There was something incorrectly about that night. It was excessively peaceful. Gazing at him, so it appeared, however he couldnââ¬â¢t see the people face. The puzzling outsider stood up and began strolling towards him, he could feel himself hyperventilating. From the outline, the outsider appeared to be very short, about his tallness with a ladylike figure and short hair. ââ¬Å"I let you know Iââ¬â¢d do it, Ien.â⬠The outsider murmured, drawing nearer. That voice. It was recognizable, delicate and girly, however it sounded wrong. It was excessively cruel sounding. Excessively threatening. The light separated in through the hole in the window ornaments. His eyes were attracted to the figures on the floor around his feet. A smothered shout got away from his lips as he understood what their identity was. It was his mom and father; they were white as day off, from the blood painted on their skin. He thought back up at the more unusual, tears spilling from his eyes. His green eyes met dark blue ones gazing back at him. He knew those eyes. He realized that equivalent green cross-formed scar that he himself wore under his left eye. It was his sister. They werenââ¬â¢t their genuine guardians, yet theyââ¬â¢d embraced them when they were 6 and treated them with only love and love, until the beating began. In any case, it was a family, and that was all that could possibly be needed for Ien. He couldnââ¬â¢t recollect a lot of his genuine guardians, his mom kicked the bucket in labor and his dad was rough. However, he couldnââ¬â¢t recall how he got this scar, and why Lena had it as well. It was a peculiar scar, his was a cross, similar to you get at a tombstone, it was tinted blue and recolored under his left eye. Lena had the equivalent, yet hers was topsy turvy, and green. It would be legitimate in the event that they were brought into the world with them, yet they werenââ¬â¢t. He couldnââ¬â¢t even recall where his father went. Neither could Lena. The two of them passed out one night, and woke up in a medical clinic; clearly they were lethargic for a long time. The dissatisfaction of not realizing things was an excessive amount to hold up under, Ien loved having answers, Lena consistently disclosed to him that occasionally the appropriate responses were best left to the creative mind. That the appropriate responses werenââ¬â¢t consistently the appropriate responses you needed. ââ¬Å"Lena?â⬠He murmured. His heart was hustling, what was going on? For what reason would she say she was taking a gander at him with such repulsive eyes? His fatherââ¬â¢s eyes. ââ¬Å"Lena, what did you do?â⬠ââ¬Å"Sometimes the appropriate responses arenââ¬â¢t consistently what you need to hear.â⬠She snickered. She began strolling towards him, the feeble, spoiled planks of flooring underneath her squeaking as she moved. He saw a glimmer of light from her hand, she was holding something. A blade. He heard the trickle drop of blood as it ran off the sharp edge, filling the splits in the sections of flooring, gradually drawing nearer. ââ¬Å"And my name isn't Lena. Lena wouldnââ¬â¢t hurt a fly. Sheââ¬â¢s so frail. Be that as it may, Iââ¬â¢m more grounded than Lena. Iââ¬â¢ve seen the things sheââ¬â¢s experienced, I sympathize with her torment. Sheââ¬â¢s crying inside me. Be that as it may, this time Iââ¬â¢ll assume control over, she canââ¬â¢t keep me down anymore.â⬠Ien drew a long, unstable breath. He could feel the tears filling his eyes. Who was this beast? Dirtying Lenaââ¬â¢s hands with the blood of her loved ones the most? He couldnââ¬â¢t let Lena be demolished by this thing that is controlling her brain, however sheââ¬â¢s drawing nearer. He was so confounded. I'm not catching her meaning by ââ¬ËShe wonââ¬â¢t keep me down anymoreââ¬â¢? Were there two Lenaââ¬â¢s? Before Ien had the opportunity to make sense of everything, she had the sharp edge at his throat. The virus metal trimming into his skin and making his hair remain on end. Writing a Memoir How to Eliminate Your Fears and Doubts
Writing a Memoir How to Eliminate Your Fears and Doubts Its a simple, six-letter word, but it is one of the most powerful in the English language. It has the power to resurrect the Titanic, take us back to the bloodied beaches of the D-Day landings, recall the glory and joy of summiting the worlds highest mountains, and enable us to vent our communal sorrow at the passing of rock stars and supermodels. It also has the power to creep into the deepest recesses of our hearts and reveal our innermost secrets and our lifelong fears, revel in the bloom of early love, and soar into the stratosphere with astronauts heading to the moon. The word that makes all these pivotal moments or recollections in our lives possible is memoir. Ironically, though, most of us do not have the courage to write our memoirs. This article will help you overcome your fears and doubts and help you produce a potential masterpiece of your lifes memories.According to the dictionary, a memoir is a historical account or biography written from personal knowledge. To me, it re presents much more. A memoir is a treasure chest or Pandoras Box of lifetime memories that enables each one of us to relive our experiences. It is a medium that helps us unlock the vault of secrets, joys, sorrows, lifetime accomplishments and experiences, ordinary everyday events, and hidden moments that make us who we are.A memoir helps us relate the hidden moments that make us who we are.A memoir also enables us to testify to the great historical events of our times, the people and places that have influenced us, and how we have kept them uppermost in our unspoken memory throughout our lives. Whether you are writing your memoirs to tell the world how you executed 22 men and women in San Quentin Prison; whether you are closing the final chapter of your life in a fireside rocking chair; or whether you are an icon of the Internet age recounting your contributions to Artificial Intelligence or the development of the drone, you all have one thing in common: each one of your stories is unique. Furthermore, each memoir has the potential to move others deeply and affect the trajectory of your life.Follow these six steps for getting your memoirs done fearlesslyStep 1 - Define your purposeIf you intend to write your memoirs, it is crucial to have a brainstorming session with yourself to understand your motivation for doing so. Are you going to write your memoirs so future generations can sift through the pages of your life to better understand where they came from and how your experiences shaped them? Are you going to write your memoirs as the basis of a best-selling non-fiction novel (My tortured life as the San Quentin executioner)? Or are you going to write your memoirs because you feel you have to get your life experiences out thereâ"either for reasons of guilt, passion, love, or grief?Establishing your motive will bring focus to your mission and play a significant role in the way you fashion your writing. It will also give you an idea who your target readership will be, and whether it will be millions of people or just one or two family members. Having established the purpose of writing your memoirs, you can proceed immediately to the next step.Step 2 - Drop the fearThere is no doubt that millions of unpublished works, including novels, collections of poetry, biographies, and personal memoirs lie gathering dust in forgotten attics and basements, relegated to obscurity by an attribute most of us know all too wellâ"fear. For many writers, fear of failure represents an obstacle to writing akin to crossing the Great Wall of Chinaâ" it just cannot be overcome. However, for those of you teetering on the brink of indecision about writing your memoirs, consider this quote by the poet Marcus Hades: Sometimes your destiny is wrapped up in a veil of fear to check if you really have the courage to face it. Also consider another quote by the American author and journalist, Robert Cormier, who said, The beautiful part of writing is that you dont have t o get it right the first time unlike, say, brain surgery. These are important points. Acknowledge your fear, then drop it, and always remember that in writing the first draft of your memoirs, getting it down is more important than getting it perfect.Step 3 - Set a timeline and structureHaving decided on your motivation and getting on with it, carefully consider the timeline for a while. Do you want your memoir to follow a chronological sequence from your birth to your present stage in life; or would you like to do the opposite in which you start with your present station in life and proceed to review the most memorable events of your life (much like the elderly Rose did in the movie Titanic). The latter follows a pyramidal structure, in which the memoir starts with a relatively small recollection and builds up into what could be a story of mammoth proportions. Conversely, you could adopt an inverted pyramidal structure, in which your memoir opens with an unforgettable event, like the sinking of the Titanic or being on the frontlines in Afghanistan (or the night you fell into the pool on the way back from a party!). Whichever way you go, you will be setting an important structure on which to base your memoirs. Some authors write their memoirs as separate chapters detailing unforgettable experiences in their lives; others write their memoirs as a chronicle of their entire lives, and include details that may be frivolous to a public audience, but very important to family members and friends. Its your choice.Step 4 - Write for yourselfIf you are not used to writing, and now confront the reality of writing about your life, you have to follow this mantra, and repeat it every day: Write for yourself. Dont be straightjacketed by the fear that others may pick holes in your writing or criticize the format, structure, and content. Just get the words down on a blank page, and leave the worries you have about style, composition, grammar, spelling, and so forth to a reviewer at the end of the manuscript.Millions of potential authors are paralyzed by the fear of what others will think; as a consequence, their writing quickly evaporates into a distant dream. In writing your memoirs, heed the advice of Leonard Cohen, Ring the bells that still can ring; forget your perfect offering; there is a crack in everything; thats how the light gets in.The fear of what others will think can paralyze a writer.Once you accept there will be cracks in your writing, start getting it down. Write, write, write! Plaster the words of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Anne Tyler to the wall above your computer: If I waited till I felt like writing I would never write at all.Consistency and discipline are blood relatives when it comes to writing your memoirs or a book. You can set a minimum number of words to write every day, or you can aim to complete your memoir by a certain date. One of the dozen or so books I have written was born out of a New Years resolution to start the bo ok on January 1 and complete it by January 1 the following year. I finished the book on December 31. Its impossible to write the same amount every day, but if you set a daily minimum and adhere to that minimum, you will get through your memoirs by the projected date.Step 5 - Set the scene and engage your sensesA memoir can be a thrilling account of a vibrant and dynamic life, or it can be pitched in such a way that it will put its readers to sleep after the first few pages. You can avoid this by establishing scene setters to every new chapter you write. These are usually evocative descriptions of (often) dramatic events that have changed or influenced your life.Millions of Americans will recall in detail exactly where they were and what they did on 9/11 when the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center came down. This day could be the opening scene setter to a chapter in your life you will never forget. When writing your scene setter and the subsequent events that took place, engage al l your sensesâ"remember the sounds, the smells, the taste, and the things that touched or moved you in the clearest detail. The ready accessibility of research from countless sources across the Worldwide Web enables you to provide details of major events that have happened in your life in great, unerring detail.Step 6 - Collaboration and editingDont be afraid of engaging the sympathetic ear or help of a friend or colleague during the arduous process of putting your life down on paper. Encouragement is the spark that fuels innovation and success. And such encouragement when you are writing your memoirs is indispensable. It has been widely proven in the marketing literature that collaboration between employers and employees in any field of endeavor has fueled the success of companies around the globe. Collaboration in writing your memoirs will yield similarly positive results. So engage help, share your secret fears and anxieties, and success will be yours. Finally, when you reach tha t last paragraph and close the manuscript recording your memoirs, take a break of at least a month. Then return, reread, and refine. And when those tasks are accomplished, look around for a good editor to review the manuscript for you. Whether one person or a thousand read your memoirs, you will always be able to rest easy in the knowledge that you did itâ"you beat the beast and overcame the fear. And, who knows, maybe your memoirs will become a bestseller!

Analysing Ethical Issues of National Kidney Foundation
Case Ethical Analysis: National Kidney Foundation of Singapore (A) ââ¬â Anatomy of a Crisis Wee Beng Geok and Yvonne Chong Overview When the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Singapore came under the scrutiny of the nation back in the July of 2005, it was evident that there was going to be major changes in the local social welfare scene. As a non-profit charitable organisation, the main aim of NKF was not only to look after the needs of its patients but encompassed drawing resources from society and moving towards changing and improving society as a whole. In this report, we focus on the issues that the top management faced and how this entire saga has affected not only NKF but also its numerous internal and external stakeholders.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦NKFââ¬â¢s management might seem to not have taken donorsââ¬â¢ opinions into consideration and hence portrayed the image of mismanaging donations. However, it would be unfair to not point out how not all stakeholders are equal and each is entitled to different considerations. Expectations differ across stakeholders and decisions made would more often than not lead to a conflict of interest but following the principle of utilitarianism, it is up to the discretion of the organisation to balance their decisions and decide how best to appease the majority. An example would be NKFââ¬â¢s dilemma of whether to disclose the salary of the CEO; not doing so would result in accusations of not being transparent while disclosing it might lead to criticism of charity leaders being too highly paid. The interests of the CEO and the donors are at conflict. Alternative Theoretical Perspectives Having received the National Youth Excellence Award in 1976 and practiced as a lawyer for 6 years2, Durai could be seen as a leader with strong self-efficacy and self-esteem. He valued new challenges more than conformity and challenged societyââ¬â¢s perspective of managing a charity. His refreshing approaches to branding and fund raising led to staff costs incurred by the many fund raising activities to be higher than that of staff cost for dialysis treatment, which was not on the same page as what external stakeholders (donors and society) would expect from a charity.Show MoreRelatedCase Studies67624 Words à |à 271 Pagesmost strategic management courses, cases are used extensively as a teaching tool.1 A key reason is that cases provide active learners with opportunities to use the strategic management process to identify and solve organisational problems. Journal of Financial Service Professionals - MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. Answer: Part 1 Lee and Kate have been married since the year 2008 and they have known each other since their college days. They have two children named Wyatt aged 5 year and Sawyer aged 3 year. The Lee works full time and gains significant amount of income and on the other hand Kate works part time and plans to work full time once Sawyer joins kindergarten. The couple have the objective of planning their insurances in such a manner so that all their objectives would be met and they along with their children would have a secured lifestyle. Hence, the insurance planning objectives of the couple have been given below: The initial objective of planning the insurance has been to safeguard the future of Wyatt and Sawyer as both of them are infants and have a long course of life ahead of them. In this respect, insurance plans have to be taken with the help of which the future life of their children can be secured. The health status of the Lee addresses that he has plantar fasciitis and occasional joint pain. The family history of Lee even highlights the chances of bowel cancer. The doctor has even suggested taking care of his sleeping and eating habits and has asked not to take much stress. Hence, with these issues it is essential for Lee to purchase an insurance that would be able to provide financial remuneration to his family in case of death and permanent or temporary disablement. In case of any such scenario, his family can be secured and would be able to maintain a smooth and healthy lifestyle. Lee and Kate has observed that their children is quite young and have a long way to go in their life. The couple even has the plan of making their children attend college or universities and educate them so that they can have a successful career. In order to do the same, it is essential that the couple purchases an insurance plan that would be able to meet the future educational expenses of their two children. The couple have individual cars and the cars need to be insured in order to safeguard them from any sort of unprecedented events. Lee draws significant amount of salary annually and therefore needs to purchase insurances that would be able to remunerate similar amount of money to his family so that their financial scenario can be sustained. The other insurance objective has to safeguard their property where they reside so that in case of any unprecedented events their children will and spouse would be able to live properly. The need for insurance even revolves around the fact that the couple has an outstanding mortgage for the house they have bought and in case of any unprecedented events the liability to pay the mortgage would fall on their infant children. Insurance would be helpful in paying the mortgage on their behalf. Part 2 There are various problems that are pertinent with the death, disability or retirement of the couple. These issues need to be highlighted so that the couple can make adequate changes in their plans. There has been an observation that their children are infant and they require sufficient amount of expenses with the help of which they can educate their children and can create a healthy career for them. In case of death, disability and retirement of Lee, the permanent income would be hampered and the family would face financial issues and therefore his plan of educating his children and establishing a career for them would face problems. In the same scenario if the same happens to Kate, then the level of financial issues would be lower but the dependency level would be higher on Lee and therefore he has to maintain various strategies with the help of which the absence of Kate can be mitigated. Lee works in a beer company and earns significant amount of salary with the help of which the he can take care of his family and the associated expenses. Lee has the anticipation that few years down the line he would even get promoted and his salary would increase. However, in case of death, permanent disablement and retirement, this permanent source of income would cease and thereby a huge amount of pressure would fall on Kate and her children. They would be facing adverse financial problems. In case the employment of Kate is ceased due to retirement, death and disability, the level of income would be hampered and she would not be able meet her personal expenses and the investments made by her would diminish. Overall, her family would face problems as well mentally and financially. Lee and Kate have various assets and liabilities that are owned by them. In case Lee expires or has permanent disablement, his permanent income would stop and thereby the investments and the insurances purchased by them would have a serious impact due to non-payment of the premiums. Lee has a mortgage loan for the purchase of the property where they reside and therefore in case of permanent disablement and death the responsibility to pay the mortgage would fall on Kate considering that their income level has fallen as well. In case of Kate, the same issue is persistent as Lee would be burdened with extra responsibility to earn and pay the mortgage and even taking care of their children single handed. Kate and Lee have a mortgage on the house and have various investments in funds and banks and therefore it is their obligation to take care of the same with the help of which the couple can have a safe, healthy and peaceful life. Therefore, in case of death, retirement or disablement, the obligations would fall on the family and repayment of the mortgage, additional payment in the investments would increase. The couple would not be able to undertake further investments as well. Hence, this can have an impact on the financial position of Lee and Kate. The other beneficiaries include the medical insurance in order to cover for any critical medical illness which they may face as they grow older. The couple have a retirement plan and have the objective of maintaining the similar lifestyle even after their retirement. In case of disablement and death, there would be an impact on the retirement plan as the savings that is being undertaken in the retirement savings plan would either stop or decrease and thereby the savings amount for the future could be reduced. Part 3 This section looks to provide the recommendations that could be given to Lee and Kate with respect to insurance planning and retirement planning. There has been an observation that Lee has various insurance and investments but the level investment and insurance can be improved. It is recommended for Lee that he increases the tenure for the RC term policy from Sun Life. He can even increase the sum insured amount by 20% as with the advent of time there will be rise in the cost of living and the educational expense of their children. The Group Benefit Plan, of which Lee is a part, has coverage of his family and his children till the age of 21 or 25 years. However, Lee has to purchase an insurance that would cover the life of their children even after they reach the age of 21 or 25 years. Both Wyatt and Sawyer need to have individual insurance for them with the help of which they can have a secured lifestyle. Lee has another life insurance over which a supplementary insurance is existen t. The premium for this insurance is paid by the employer. But the amount of money that is insured is significantly low as Lee has three dependents. The amount needs to be increased in order to maintain the financial stability of the family even after his death. Lee needs to have individual insurances for Kate as well as she is his wife and in case of any her death Lee can receive certain financial remuneration as well. Maintaining individual insurance for everyone in his family is essential and therefore it is recommended. Lee does have health care and dental care coverage that is included in the Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada. But with the advent of time they would be growing old and would need additional medical expenses and therefore Lee needs to purchase a medical insurance which would remunerate for the medical expenses. In case of any hospital related incidents Lee and his family would even receive cashless facilities and thereby would initiate their treatment timely. L ee can purchase medical insurance from Sun Life as well that would be covering his spouse as well so that every one of them is safe and secured. It is even recommended that Lee undertakes a home insurance as the home they have purchased is relatively new and they have mortgage pending as well. Therefore keeping the house insured can assist in paying the loan back in case anything happens to the couple. The retirement plan that Lee has can be improved as well as his income would increase and with time, issues related to health. There are product recommendations for Kate as well. Kate is a working woman and looks to work full time once Sawyer starts going to kindergarten. She has the expectation that her income would become double then. Hence, she can purchase insurance for herself that would be inclusive of medical insurance as well. Kate can even think of purchasing retirement savings plan so that in case of any mishaps between Lee and Kate, she can have an independent retirement plan for herself. She needs to undertake various investments in RBC Financial Group and thereby have her own savings as well. Both Kate and Lee have debts and therefore investments that have to be undertaken should be inclusive of paying for the debts and the mortgage that is existent for them. Part 4 The recommendations that have been suggested is affordable due to the fact that Lee has significant amount of income and therefore this income would be significant enough with the help of which further insurances can be purchased. Kate earns $ 24,000 annually and expects to get her income doubled. Hence, with this level of income the two products recommended for her can be purchased with ease. The suggestions that have been provided is existent within the current cash flow by adding in the expenses and adjusting the income that Lee and Kate receives. The adjustments that have been made have been highlighted in the cash flow and these adjustments have been made by reducing the expenses that are unwanted for the couple and their family. The reduction in these expenses and the increasing their level of income can be useful for the development of effective cash flow statement. This would even counter the additional insurances that would be purchased. There are no recommendations in the restructuring of debt as the level of debt that is present is precise and the payment amount is appropriate. The adjustments that have been made in the cash flow statement has been highlighted in the table below and the changes have been made in accordance to the new products that have been recommended. The assumptions that have taken includes that the rate of interest is constant and there has been growth in the investments and income growth.
